Come out and visit with numerous animal support groups, who will each give a two-minute presentation on what they do and what they need. You can learn all the different ways you can help animals locally, whether that be through volunteering, fostering, adopting, donating, or other ways! Let’s all band together to help the animals!

MLGW Will Assist Furloughed Government Employees

(January 11, 2019) – Memphis Light, Gas and Water is offering assistance to furloughed government employees by enacting our Hardship Policy for eligible customers.

Under this policy, furloughed employees experiencing temporary, financial hardship are able to make payment arrangements which can prevent an interruption in utility services.

For assistance, impacted customers should gather their furlough documentation and call 544-6549 or visit an MLGW Community Office.

Adult Dog Foster Pilot Program

Do you love dogs? Do you want to play a major role in implementing an exciting new program at Memphis Animal Services?

Join our Pilot Dog Foster Program we launched this week!

During the pilot portion of the program (taking place in November and December), five dogs will be available for foster each week. Foster parents must complete a short foster application/interview, and must be willing to play an active role in marketing their foster dogs for adoption and helping foster coordinators collect data for the pilot program.

Foster dogs will be available for adoption locally in the Memphis Area.

If you’re interested in fostering a featured dog for 4-6 weeks or until adoption (whichever comes first!), email MAS@memphistn.gov or come by Memphis Animal Services this Friday or Saturday from 12-4pm to learn more and meet the dogs!

Meet one of our first Pilot Dogs pictured here: Little Dipper #A308425, who is a 2-year-old female!

KSANA July 4th Breakfast Celebration

In an effort to beat the summer heat and allow folks time to attend multiple events, we’re having a breakfast picnic to celebrate the 4th this year.

KSANA will provide breakfast sandwiches and beverages. If you’d like to round out the meal with other breakfast-y items (muffins, fruit, doughnuts, etc.), we’d certainly appreciate it!

We will also have our traditional Kids’ Parade around the church, so feel free to decorate your bikes, trikes, wagons, and strollers. Or not. It’s up to you (and your kids.)

Please RSVP before 8:00 p.m. July 1st!

If you plan to attend, send an email to ksana.contact@gmail.com or call Cammy at 497-3420. We need to know your name, address, and the number of adults & children who will be attending.

Our annual KSANA Yard Sale Saturday is next weekend, June 2nd. All residents are welcome to participate, but if you want us to put a sign on your street, you’ll need to let us know you’re having a sale. (Or you can put up your own signs if you’d like!)

We’ll advertise in The Commercial Appeal (online), Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and Next Door. Feel free to share the news with your friends and family, too!

Please let Cammy know before Thursday (May 31) if you plan to participate.

SkyCop Status Update

From David Smith.

We have approximately three weeks left in the campaign to secure $36,000 for the Pole Camera Funding. Through this weekend, we have $27,575 in our Camera account. Since several people have asked me about the MANW Grant I suspect they have been asking you as well. So, here is the current state in regards to that activity.

The MANW (Memphis Area Neighborhood Watch) program provides grants to neighborhoods in support of specific crime prevention programs. The maximum grant is $2500 and is funded by the City Council. The next deadline for submitting a grant proposal to the Council is November 15, 2017. Due to the holidays they do not anticipate granting any awards prior to the January 2018 Council Meeting. If we are getting a grant they will notify us in advance. We have already submitted our proposal to the review committee, but for your information, there are several conditions that we had to meet in order to be able to submit a request. Some of them are as follows: 1) We had to have a federal tax id  2) We had to commit to a minimum of 100 volunteer hours in support of our project (thank you Ann, Cammy, Suzanne, and everyone else who have been going door to door for donations); 3) We had to attend a mandatory training class presented by the MANW (Thank you Patsy); and 4) we had to be active participants in our Precinct Neighborhood Watch program and have the Precinct Commander certify our organization in writing (Again thank you Patsy). The council makes the award, but the leadership of MPD provides significant input as to who they think should get the money, so politics is in play. The good news is we, as KSANA and Patsy personally, have for a long time had a very good personal relationship with both Director Rawlings as well as Deputy Director Ryal. In addition, our councilman Colvet is aware of our Association and our project and can be counted on to support our proposal. All good things that make me  feel pretty confident that we will be successful, but we can’t count it until we get the check in hand.

We still need a few more neighbors to step up and give to our fund, three weeks left!!
