Public Works Preparing for Frozen Precipitation

Division of Public Works employees are preparing for the forecast of frozen precipitation in Memphis overnight. If and when the city starts receiving any frozen precipitation, Public Works will deploy up to 12 trucks to spread sand and salt as part of its de-icing operation. The city has over 8,000 tons of salt and sand mixture on hand for winter weather events.

Due to the amount of rain expected before the snow event, no brine will be used to pre-treat roads.

Public Works intends to provide practical and safe transportation routes that best suits the needs of the public during winter storms.
