Neighborhood Cleanup

Dear Neighbors,

Join us for our first neighborhood clean-up of 2022 this Saturday April 30th.

Not sure how to participate? Start small by picking up any trash in your yard. Ready to do more? Pick up trash in your neighbors’ yards too! You can even walk your street or cove picking up trash if you are ready to tidy up even more real estate.

What do I need? Garbage bags or reuse plastic grocery bags. Use work gloves or disposable gloves too if available. If not, you can reuse plastic grocery bags to cover your hand while you pick up trash. If you have a shovel or rake, you can use it to help clean out storm drains on your street to prevent water back up during heavy rains.

Why is this important? Keeping our neighborhood clean helps keep it beautiful and shows that we care about the environment where we live.

We hope everyone can come out to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and flowers while we beautify our neighborhood.

Message regarding Leaf Season from the City of Memphis

Leaf season is here, and we’re running a special free bagged leaf drop-off beginning November 1st thru February at Collins Yard located at 304 Collins St. for Memphis residences only!

Please be sure to bring your latest MLGW bill for proof of residency. As of November 1st, the gates will open from 8am to 4pm Monday thru Saturday.

All leaf-filled bags must be tied shut, and no tree branches or limbs will be accepted.

Solid Waste crews will continue to pick up leaves and branches from the curb during your scheduled bulk week pickup; however, any contractors or lawn service companies hired to perform yard work must continue to remove their own bags and debris generated from their services per City ordinance.

Great news: Waffle House Development Update

A great win for the neighborhood!

We recently advised you that Waffle House had been seeking approval to build a 24-hour restaurant at Kirby Parkway & Kirby Gate Drive next to the Autozone.
KSANA, Greentrees, Keswick/Sulgrave, Kirby Oaks, Kirby Trace and Balmoral formed a collation of neighbors to oppose the development on the grounds that a 24-hour Commercial operation would add noise, trash and the potential for crime to our neighborhoods.
A group of about 20 folks from this partnership attended the Land Use Control Board Meeting on Thursday the 9th. Waffle House saw how committed the neighbors were in our opposition, and they decided to withdraw their application and will move to another location closer to 385 and away from our homes.
Thanks to everyone who participated and all of the hard work leading up to this victory. Just shows the impact a united neighborhood can make.
